GUIDED TASTINGS EXPLORING FLAVOUR, HISTORY
& THE CRAFT OF SCOTTISH SPIRITS
A well-hosted spirits tasting is about more than simply sampling whisky or gin. It is an opportunity to explore flavour, craftsmanship, and the stories behind the spirit.
As a working distiller and professional taster, I host guided tastings designed to be both engaging and informative. Over the years I have conducted tastings for audiences from many different countries, in settings ranging from private gatherings to international events.
A typical tasting explores how spirits are created, how flavour develops, and how different styles reveal their character in the glass.
Along the way we may discuss:
• How spirits are distilled and matured
• The role of ingredients and botanicals
• How casks influence whisky over time
• Techniques for nosing and tasting spirits
• The stories and traditions behind different distilleries
The emphasis is always on conversation, curiosity, and discovering new perspectives on familiar spirits.
Tastings can be adapted to suit a wide variety of occasions and audiences, including:
• Wedding celebrations in country houses, castles, and private venues
• Corporate events and hospitality occasions
• Private tastings for small groups of enthusiasts
• Formal hosted tastings for larger audiences
• Informal and relaxed gatherings centred around shared enjoyment of whisky
Most tastings are designed to complement the atmosphere of the event, whether that means an elegant formal presentation or a more relaxed and conversational style.
I am based in Scotland but regularly travel for tastings both within the UK and internationally.
