TRAINING
PROFESSIONAL SPIRITS EDUCATION
FOR HOSPITALITY TEAMS & ENTHUSIASTS

Training sessions explore how spirits are created, how flavour develops, and how different traditions shape the character of what ends up in the glass.

As a working distiller and professional taster, I offer educational sessions designed for audiences ranging from enthusiasts and hospitality teams to corporate groups and specialist events.

Each session combines practical distilling knowledge, guided tasting, and the stories that sit behind the world of spirits.

Sessions may explore topics such as:

How spirits are produced and distilled
The role of botanicals, grains, and fermentation
How casks influence flavour and maturation
Techniques for nosing and tasting spirits
Understanding different spirits styles and traditions
The cultural history behind classic spirits

Example Training Sessions:

GINformation

A lively and informative exploration of gin, looking at how botanicals shape flavour, how distillation creates balance, and how modern gin styles have evolved from historic traditions.

The session introduces participants to the building blocks of gin, from classic juniper-led styles to contemporary botanical expressions.

Scotland Uncorked

An exploration of Scotland through its spirits, history, and traditions.

This session looks at how landscape, culture, and craftsmanship have shaped Scotland’s distilling heritage, combining guided tasting with the stories that sit behind some of the country’s most distinctive spirits.

Tailored Training

Training sessions can be tailored to the interests, experience level, and setting of the audience.

While some events follow established themes such as GINformation or Scotland Uncorked, many sessions are developed in conversation with the organiser to suit the particular focus of the event.

Sessions may be designed for:

 hospitality teams and industry professionals
 enthusiast groups and private audiences
 corporate learning or team events
 specialist spirits or flavour-focused sessions

Training sessions are designed to be engaging, informative, and conversational, encouraging participants to explore spirits with curiosity and confidence.
